MIN PEAK
Ragil Vahlevi, Gill

About

Ragil Vahlevi, known as Gill, is a computer, network & telecommunication engineering student. The path here was not a straight line — it started in the sciences, took a detour that wasn't the original plan, and only later turned into genuine interest.

That interest grew through hands-on learning, self-reflection, taking on leadership roles, entering competitions, and building real projects — not from having it all figured out on day one.

The Ascent

From minus to peak

A journey of finding direction, leaving the comfort zone, and learning to build something meaningful.

  1. Grade 10 Origin

    Starting in science, not technology

Came from an IPA (science) track and didn't get into the school originally intended. Landed in Computer, Network & Telecommunication Engineering (TJKT) instead — not by first choice, and without much interest in it yet. Being honest about that in an interview meant not joining the industrial class either.

    Science background Unplanned direction
  2. Grade 10 Adaptation

    Adapting without yet being interested

Mostly followed the flow while still figuring out what direction made sense. Focused on adapting and improving regardless — and finished 1st in class despite the lack of interest in the major itself. Meeting others with similar experiences also eased some of the frustration that had been part of the motivation early on.

    Self-improvement 1st in class
  3. Grade 11 Leadership

    Stepping up when it mattered

An extracurricular demonstration was going badly. Rather than stay in the background — the usual preference — stepping in to coordinate turned the result around and drew more students into the activity. It was one of the first clear signs of a leadership instinct, even while still preferring to work quietly behind the scenes most of the time.

    Leadership Extracurricular
  4. Grade 11 Discovery

    Interest starts to take hold

In the second semester, technology and TJKT started to genuinely click — helped along by friends worth collaborating with. Reading “Filosofi Teras” and using AI as a tool for reflection opened up an active search for direction and identity, rather than just continuing to follow the flow.

Self-reflection Filosofi Teras AI as a tool
  5. Grade 11 Achievement

    The results start to show

That shift in interest and effort showed up in the numbers: 1st place in the TJKT cohort, 2nd place overall.

  6. Grade 12 Breaking the comfort zone

    Leaving the comfort zone

Grade 12 became the start of actually stepping out — competitions, school projects, technical experimentation, and networking-focused work, including a national-level MikroTik networking olympiad. Less staying comfortable, more building and testing what's actually possible.

    Competitions MikroTik Networking Projects
  7. Grade 12 · Current Still climbing

    Still climbing

The technical journey is ongoing — still competing, still building, still learning across web development, Linux, networking, and AI. Not a peak reached, just a clearer direction and the discipline to keep moving toward it.

    Continuous learning

The peak is not the destination.
It is the direction.

The path into TJKT started from an IPA/science background, not a technology one — and it wasn't the original plan or an immediate interest. Over time, hands-on exposure to networking, Linux, web development, and AI turned it into a real direction. The full story is in the Journey section above — this is just where that direction is currently being studied.

Smart Laboratory System

A smart laboratory system designed to reduce human error in securing the school laboratory and improve how it's managed.

My contribution

Developed the automatic laboratory door locking system.

ESP32 Laravel MySQL RFID
Technical story

Problem

Laboratory security and management can depend on humans remembering to lock the room and manage access correctly.

Approach

An integrated system combining ESP32-based hardware with a Laravel web application: automatic door locking, RFID-based access, and web-based control of laboratory usage, lighting, and AC behavior. The ESP32 talks to the web system through a modified Sheet/extension mechanism over a URL-based approach.

Result

A working project prototype that demonstrated the intended smart laboratory workflow, though it was not ultimately deployed to the school laboratory — the team ran out of time during testing with the department head.
